Bio:

Hello students! My name is Erika and I look forward to meeting you and accompanying you on your unique academic journeys. I earned a dual Bachelors of Arts in International Studies and International Politics, with concentrations in Latin American and Caribbean Studies and Global Political Relations. I also have a Teaching English as a Foreign Language certification. I enjoy working with students of all ages and educational experiences, who I consider to be lifelong learners. I believe that learning should be “FUN-ctional”, positive and fun, but intentional. I have tutored students for many years in various English courses, social sciences, and history and government, starting in my high school tutoring center and continuing throughout college to present day. I also mentored first-year university students for a few years to help them navigate the excitement and challenges of a new academic environment and enhance their university writing skills. Working with students with different cultural and educational backgrounds than my own continues to be an enriching career for me. During COVID-19, I began my career in teaching and advising immigrants and refugees learning English as a Second Language. Most recently, I completed a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship grant in Argentina to teach primary and secondary English Language Learners and mentor English teachers-in training. My keys to guiding students to successful academic outcomes is by helping them to set clear, measurable goals tailored to their needs, adapting to their learning styles, assisting in building confidence and resilience, and building a positive relationship with each student. Qualifications:

Dual Bachelors of Arts in International Studies and International Politics, with concentrations in Latin American and Caribbean Studies and Global Political Relations.
